About us
Low Moor Farm has been in the Errington family for three generations. We’re a working dairy farm in the Eden Valley, and we pasteurise and bottle our own milk right here on the farm — from our own herd, in our own dairy, out to our own customers.
We supply local food businesses who care where their milk comes from, including Tebay Services, Rheged, and independent shops, cafés and restaurants across Penrith and the surrounding area. Demand is growing and so are we — this is a chance to join a family business at an early stage and grow with it.
You’d be joining a team of five in the dairy who work as a team pasteurising, packaging and preparing order for deliveries on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Pasteurising days are typically Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There is a minimum working team of three in the dairy on pasteurising days.
It’s a small team. What goes out has our name on it.
The Role
This role is to focus on operating the dairy equipment to pasteurise the milk, bottle milk in our standard products, and professionally clean the equipment following each pasteurising run.
Duties include:
Running the pasteuriser — start-up, monitoring temperatures and flow, correct shut-down
Bottling, capping, coding and labelling alongside the rest of the team.
Completing production and temperature records accurately (we’ll train you)
Full CIP clean-down of plant, tanks and lines at the end of each run, to our written schedule
Safe handling and dosing of cleaning chemicals — full training given
Keeping the dairy clean, tidy and inspection-ready
Getting finished stock into the cold stores.
If you’ve worked in milk or dairy processing before, we’d love to hear from you.
You do not need dairy experience to apply. If you’ve worked in food or drink manufacturing — a bakery, a brewery, a meat plant, bottling, ready meals — or in a professional kitchen, you already understand most of what matters here: hygiene, temperature control, paperwork, and doing the same job properly every single time. We’ll teach you the dairy.
What we really need:
Someone who is used to early starts. Our farm starts at 6am each day.
Reliability. We are committed to delivering fresh milk three days a week to our wonderful customers.
Care with cleaning and record-keeping — in a dairy, the clean-down matters as much as the production.
Someone who works well in a small team — no passengers, but no egos either. When it’s busy, everyone bottles.
Able to get on with your own part of the job once you know it, and happy to ask when you don’t.
Basic mechanical confidence — connecting hoses, changing seals, spotting when something isn’t right.
A full driving licence and your own transport are essential.
